***Note. I changed my review to four stars because the author reached out to me and let me know the reasons for the issues that I wrote about in this review. The music group they portrayed is very much real. The dialogue was talked from the recollections of both Mike and John. And finally it was a conscious decision not to do a follow-up with Mike and John's lives because Mike has had such an interesting life that it would take another book or two to get it all in.I have been listening to Mike Evans on the radio for twenty years when he does his local Hollywood report. He is interesting and funny and has great stories, and man, I would love to shoot a round of golf with him and have a beer or six. Thus, when I heard about this book I pre-ordered it on Kindle and got it last week when it was released.I have to admit that I tore through this book in three days. I have no clue if the story is true because when you Google the song mentioned and the group, nothing comes up. Nonetheless, even if is only has hints of the truth it is a very fun read. Why only four stars? Well, since Mike is the only living person of the two main characters of the book, his partner comes across as dopey and Mike the savior of everything. He paints himself as too perfect and that makes him almost a cartoon character. The dialogue is where I had the most issues, because it is sophomoric and pedantic, and it doesn't come across as authentic. I also wish there was a last chapter dedicated to what the two main characters did over the years until the present day.So, while it is not a perfect book, it sure is fun to read.
