A Light & Playful Easy Read!This is book one in the Music City Lovers series about the Tucker Brothers Band. The Nashville-based country-rock band had been on a fast track to fame and fortune, and now they are at the top. It took three years of non-stop, around the clock work, but it has paid off in spades. This series is a spin-off of the McCabe Brothers series. Gage, Caleb, and Bo McCabe are cousins with the Tuckers.Kade Tucker, going on twenty-six, plays bass for the band. He is the romantic of the family. Travis Tucker sings, writes, and plays guitar. He just had his twenty-fifth birthday and unlike Kade, Travis is never exclusive. Vaughn is the youngest brother. He plays drums on stage and plays hard off stage. Roxie is their manager – and happens to be their tough as nails sister. And she definitely wont’ repeat her older sisters’ mistakes, making a man the center of her world.Travis and Ruby meet by chance and the sparks fly immediately. They feel a deep connection, forged by insane chemistry and the music that flows in their blood. Theirs is a lust at first sight story, though love does follow. This is probably for the best because it is also an age gap story. And a coming of age story. Seven years is significant when a sheltered eighteen year old is involved. The possibility that Ruby might lose her identity to an older and very worldly man is honestly a little concerning. She never seems to consider her age to be an obstacle, though. Her inexperience might be a problem, but she is strong-willed and stubborn with a single-minded determination to achieve her own goals. It works because she believes in herself and isn’t afraid to stand up to Travis. They have both experienced loss, and it has affected them each deeply. Travis’s age and life experience have given him a clarity that Ruby lacks. The couple must build upon their steamy relationship before love can find a way, but the couple eventually earns their happy ending.Travis and Ruby’s steamy story is a light and playful easy read about a strong-willed country girl and a burnt out country-rock star. It is nicely written. The plot is somewhat complex, with a few small surprises and challenges in addition to the personal growth the characters experience. The characters are well-developed. There is a large cast of characters, several of which will have their own book in the series. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Travis and Ruby. I rate this book 4.5 stars.I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
